How often should you treat for pests in Fort Myers?

Monthly or every-other-month exterior treatment suits most Fort Myers homes, because the warm, wet Southwest Florida climate keeps ants, roaches, and spiders active all year. Quarterly can hold lower-pressure homes, but tree-heavy and waterfront lots usually need the tighter schedule.

Do older McGregor-area homes need different treatment than newer communities?

Somewhat — mature-tree neighborhoods like McGregor and Whiskey Creek see more carpenter ants and palmetto bugs from decaying wood and heavy canopy, while newer communities off Daniels and Gateway lean toward ghost ants and spiders. We adjust the barrier and products to the home’s setting.

What are the big roaches I see at night?

Palmetto bugs — large American roaches that live outdoors in mulch, sewers, and leaf litter and wander in, especially after rain. They are not a sign of a dirty home. Consistent exterior treatment around the foundation and entry points is what keeps them out.

Is the treatment safe for pets and kids?

Yes. We apply professional products at label rates, and the treated exterior is safe once it has dried. We leave a note on each visit with the timing.

Perimeter Pest Control Built for Fort Myers

Fort Myers ranges from the historic McGregor corridor's mature oak canopy to newer gated communities off Daniels and Treeline, and the pest mix shifts with it. Older McGregor and Whiskey Creek homes see more carpenter ants and palmetto bugs from big trees and established landscaping; newer builds in Gateway and Pelican Preserve lean toward ghost ants and spiders.

Across all of them, Southwest Florida's heat and summer rain keep ants, roaches, and spiders pressing on the foundation year-round. Our Perimeter Pest Control program treats the exterior barrier, entry points, and yard band monthly or quarterly, so the bugs are handled outside before they reach the kitchen.
